Who we areAboutEst. 2023

We build the system, then we stay on it.

Scala is a product and engineering studio working with private clinics and hospital groups across South Asia. We take on the operations that slow care down, ship the system that handles them, and remain the team responsible for it afterwards.

Two offersA services practice for clinics, and Sparsha, the EHR that came out of it.
Mission
Note

Applies to both offers. The services practice and Sparsha answer to the same sentence.

Scope

Private clinics and hospital groups, South Asia.

We want the running of a clinic to stop competing with the care.

Most of what slows a clinic down is not medicine. It is the call nobody picked up, the record finished at midnight, the front desk holding three queues at once, the follow-up that depended on somebody remembering.

We build the systems that take that work off the floor, and we keep operating them with the clinic afterwards. That is the whole of it. If a thing we ship does not give staff time back, it has not worked.

Everything we know about clinics we learned from inside one.

What we stand for

The rules that hold when a build runs late.

Six, in order of argument
01The floor decides

If a nurse cannot use it during a Monday morning queue, it is not finished. Clinical staff are the reviewers who matter, and they review before launch, not after.

02We stay on it

The people who built the system are the people you call at 9pm. No handover to an account manager, no support tier that has never seen the code.

03Small releases, real use

Work goes into live clinics weekly. A quarter-long build with a single reveal at the end is a gamble dressed up as a plan.

04Show it working

We demonstrate what a system does rather than describe what it is. If a sentence about our work survives having its adjectives deleted, it can stay.

05Where the pressure is

We work across South Asia, with private clinics and hospital groups carrying more patients than their admin was ever built for. That constraint shapes every decision we make.

06A record is somebody’s life

Patient data is handled as a record, not a row. Access, audit and retention are settled before the first screen is drawn.

The team

The people you will actually meet.

No account managers in between
